Design elements are the basic units of a visual image.

Can be used to imply there is texture

Unity creates a sense of order, a consistency in size and shape

Proximity can create a sense of unity; it can also show a lack of unity

•    What are the 3 primary colors? 

Red, yellow, green, and blue.

•    How are secondary colors created? Cite an example 

When two of the primary colors are mixed together. Cyan is a secondary color, which is made by mixing light blue with green.

•    How are tertiary colors created? Cite an example 

         By mixing a primary color with a secondary color. Azure is a tertiary color made by mixing cyan and blue.

•    What is the difference between subtractive and additive color models? 

Additive color is when a color is created by mixing the visible light emitted from differently colored light sources. But with subtractive colors, light is removed from various part of the visible spectrum to create colors.

•    How can color affect our perception? 

Different color can make you hungry or not. Also, brighter color will draw you to that object whereas dull colors will put you off.

•    How does one color affect another? 

For example, most colors, when placed next to their complements, produce vibrating, electric effects. Other colors, in the right combinations, produce different affects.

•   Where does Helvetica originate from? What country? 

        Helvetica originates in Switzerland.

•   What does the original name mean? What is it's translation in English? 

         Helvetica, originally written in Latin, translates to "The Swiss Type-Face".

•   What year was Helvetica created? 

        Helvetica was created in 1957

    

•   What is the design style that Helvetica brought to popularity worldwide?

         The “Swiss design” style popularized Helvetica and its clean and simple characteristics.

    

•   List the names of 3 different design styles or design movements that are discussed in the film. 

                   Modernism, post-modernism, and the grunge, were all discussed in the film.

    

•  Write about some of the insight about design you have taken away from the film. You can provide quotes if you like.

         It’s amazing how much the typeface itself, as well as the weight, angle, direction, and color of the text can affect a design so much. I feel most people would assume the actual artwork and layout of the design would be much more essential to creating a great aesthetic presentation, where as the type and how designers manipulate it just as important, especially to many people who dedicate many hours of their time picking the perfect font to match their design.
